A stack combines a flight controller (FC) and a 4-in-1 ESC. It is the brain and the muscle of your drone, so compatibility matters.
Mounting pattern
The most common are 20×20 mm for small drones and 30.5×30.5 mm for 5" and larger. Make sure the stack fits your frame.
Processor and firmware
F4, F7 and H7 processors are all used with Betaflight, INAV and ArduPilot. F4 is fine for most freestyle builds; F7 and H7 give more headroom for extra features, GPS and logging.
ESC current and voltage
- Choose a continuous current rating above what your motors draw.
- Check supported cell counts (3–6S, or higher for large drones).
- BLHeli_S, BLHeli_32 and AM32 are the common ESC firmwares.
Extras worth having
- Built-in OSD and barometer.
- Enough UARTs for receiver, GPS and VTX.
- A good 5 V / 9 V BEC for your camera and VTX.
