Building Your First 5-inch FPV Drone: Parts Checklist

A 5" freestyle quad is the classic first build. Here is the full parts list.

  1. Frame: choose a durable 5" frame with a 30.5 mm stack mount. See frames.
  2. Motors: four 2207 or 2306 motors, around 1700–2000KV for 6S. See motors.
  3. FC + ESC stack: 30.5×30.5 mm, 40–60 A ESC. See stacks.
  4. Propellers: 5" tri-blade props, and buy several spare sets. See 5 inch props.
  5. Video: an FPV camera, a video transmitter and an antenna. See FPV video.
  6. Radio: a receiver compatible with your transmitter.
  7. Batteries and charger: 4S or 6S LiPo, plus a balance charger.
  8. Goggles: analog or digital, depending on your video system.

Tip: finish soldering carefully, check motor direction in the configurator, and do a first hover test with props off the ground only after a full pre-flight check.
